The Cardinals beat the Black Sox, 2-1 in game one of the Championship Series on Sunday behind a complete game from Rene Ramirez and are just one win away from their first SABL title!

Ramirez baffled Black Sox hitters all game long, striking out nine over seven innings of work while scattering just four hits. The lone run he surrendered came in the first inning on a balk call with runners on first and third. From that point forward, Ramirez took control and prevented another Black Sox runner from reaching third base for the rest of the game.

The Cardinals offense answered the Black Sox run in the top of the first with two of their own, capitalizing on a leadoff single and two Black Sox errors. Jesse Collins relieved starting pitcher, Mike Stubbs in the second and matched Ramirez pitch for pitch over five scoreless innings of work.

With the series shifting to Scott Stell Park, the Cardinals will look to secure the championship with a win in game two on Sunday. If needed, a decisive game three would be played immediately afterwards as the SABL looks to crown a champion in the 33+ Division this weekend!
